At least 48 OIC foreign ministers from 57 countries have so far confirmed their participation. This is the second OIC meeting hosted by Pakistan in three months. In December, Pakistan also hosted a special meeting of the OIC on Afghanistan. Another interesting thing is that Pakistan has invited Chinese foreign minister Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as the guest of honor. It is a rare move to accord to this opportunity to a top diplomat of non-OIC country. FM. Wang Yi may address to the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Conference as a special guest.

In addition to attending the OIC conference, the Chinese Foreign Minister will also attend the Pakistan Day Parade to see the performance of newly added J-10C fighter jets to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). Pakistan is the first country to acquire J-10C fighter jets from China, which is notable for its close bilateral relations, especially in the defense field. China’s Foreign Minister will review bilateral relations and meet with the country’s civil and military leaders to discuss regional and international issues. During his visit, he will also review the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. Following Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent visit to Beijing, CPEC has taken a further hit. Prime Minister Imran attended the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Beijing in February to express China’s support at a time when many Western countries refused to send their teams to the event China and Pakistan. The two countries have a close relationship long-standing, but have improved in recent years. Islamabad insists it does not believe in bloc politics, but its decision to skip the US Democracy Summit and attend the Beijing Winter Olympics shows the country is moving too fast towards China.
