Uzbekistan’s GDP increases by 5.7% in January-September
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (DNA) — According to preliminary estimates, the GDP of the Republic of Uzbekistan in January – September 2019 at current prices made up 361.85 trillion soums and, compared with January – September 2018, increased in real terms by 5.7%.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the GDP deflator index in relation to January-September 2018 prices made up 118.0%.
GDP per capita made up 10.8 million soums and, compared with the corresponding period of last year, increased by 3.7%.
Compared to the corresponding period of last year, the share of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in the sectoral structure of GDP decreased from 31.3% to 28.0%, and the service sector from 36.8% to 35.9% at that time, as the proportion of industry increased from 25.4% to 29.2% and construction – from 6.5% to 6.9%.
The economic growth rates for January – September 2019 are due to positive dynamics in the main sectors of the economy. Gross value added created by all sectors of the economy made up 90.9% of total GDP and increased by 5.7% (contribution to GDP growth – 5.0 percentage points). Net taxes on products in the structure of GDP made up 9.1% and showed an increase of 5.6% (contribution to GDP growth – 0.7 percentage points).
According to the results of January – September 2019, agriculture, forestry and fisheries showed a positive growth rate of 2.4%. The contribution of this industry to GDP growth was 0.6 percentage points.
The positive dynamics in agriculture, forestry and fisheries is associated with an increase in crop production by 2.4% and livestock by 2.5%.
In the industry, there is an increase in value added by 7.0%. At the same time, the positive contribution to GDP growth from industrial production made up 1.6 percentage points.
Positive dynamics in this industry was ensured due to the growth of value added of the mining industry and quarrying by 1.9%, manufacturing – by 8.9% and other industries – by 1.6%.
According to the results of January – September 2019, the largest share in the structure of gross value added of the manufacturing industry is accounted for by the metallurgical and metalworking industries (excluding machinery and equipment) – 34.8%. The share of food, beverage and tobacco products made up 14.8%, textiles, clothing, leather and related products – 13.8%, rubber, plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products – 10.5%, chemical products – 7.8%, vehicles, trailers, semi-trailers and other transportation equipment – 5.7%, electrical equipment – 2.5%, coke and oil products – 2.3% and other manufacturing products – 7.8%.
The volume of construction work, compared with the corresponding period of last year, increased by 19.3% as a result of large-scale work on the construction of residential complexes, the construction and overhaul of social and engineering infrastructure facilities, as well as the implementation of investment projects for the construction and modernization of enterprises in basic industries industry.
The positive contribution to the GDP growth from the construction industry made up 1.1 percentage points. According to the results of January – September 2019, the gross value added of the services sector made up 118.11 trillion soums and increased by 5.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, while the contribution to GDP growth made up 1.7 percentage points. Out of it, trade services (including repair of motor vehicles) increased by 3.9%, accommodation and food services – by 6.1%, transportation and storage – by 5.0%, information and communication – by 8.2% and others service industry sectors – by 5.3%.
In the structure of gross value added of trade (including repair of motor vehicles), the largest share falls on retail trade (except for trade in motor vehicles) – 68.0%. The share of wholesale trade (except for trade in motor vehicles) is 25.9%, and wholesale and retail trade in motor vehicles and their repair is 6.1%.
In January – September 2019, the largest share in the structure of gross value added of transportation and storage is accounted for by road transport – 53.9%. Pipeline transport accounts for 18.0%, railway transport – 11.3%, auxiliary transport activity – 10.1%, air transport – 6.7% of the total value added of this industry.
In January – September 2019, small businesses (businesses) created added value in the amount of 188.18 trillion. soums, or 57.2% of the total value added created in the economy.
In terms of the main sectors of the economy, the share of small business (business) in gross value added made up: in agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 99.1%, construction – 77.9%, services – 40.9%, industry – 32.2 %
In January – September 2019, the GDP deflator index was 118.0% relative to prices of the same period in 2018. The highest values of deflator indices in the structure of GDP were recorded in industry – 137.6% and other services – 124.7%.
Deflator indices below the national average were observed in agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 112.1%, construction – 113.4%, trade, accommodation and food services – 113.8%, transportation and storage, information and communication – 110, 1% and in net taxes on products – 92.8%.
