US always blames Pakistan to hide its own shortcomings in Afghanistan: Asif
ISLAMABAD, NOV 01 (DNA) – Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said the United States always blames Pakistan in order to hide its own shortcomings in Afghanistan.
Speaking in Senate on Wednesday over US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s recent visit to South Asia, Asif accused President Donald Trump of having different policies before and after the presidential elections of 2016.
Pakistan’s foreign policy was not the responsibility of any single state institution and its being shaped up through the coordination of parliament and national security committee, he said and vowed to make the policy according to the guidelines set by parliament.
“Integrity, solidarity and economic interests of Pakistan will remain the top priority while forming the foreign policy,” the foreign minister said.
Islamabad, he said, is totally capable of defending its interests and will also protect it in its bilateral ties with Washington.
“Today, the US is here tomorrow it might not. Therefore, we tried to find solutions to regional issues with the support of regional players,” he said and urged neighbouring countries to find solution assuring peace in the region.
