Islamabad, August 28, 2026 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan over the tragic flash floods and landslides that struck China’s border region, claiming lives and leaving many missing.
In a statement shared on his official account, the Prime Minister conveyed solidarity with the Chinese people during this difficult time. “The loss of precious lives and those missing as a result of this tragedy evokes our profound grief and solidarity with the Chinese brethren,” he said.
He noted that search and relief operations were continuing tirelessly in the affected areas and assured that Pakistan stands ready to extend all possible support and assistance. The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan’s thoughts are with the bereaved families and offered prayers for the swift recovery of the injured and the safe return of those missing.
