Kulbhushan case: India to file plea in ICJ on September 13
THE HAGUE, SEPT 13 (DNA) – India is to file a petition defending her convicted spy Kulbhushan Jadhav in International Court of Justice on Wednesday.
The international court had ordered India on June 13 to move a formal plea on September 13 and Pakistan was ordered to file a reply on December 13.
Jadhav was sentenced to death by a military court of Pakistan in April 2017 after he confessed to covertly operating for research and Analysis wing of India to destabilize Pakistan.
He was tried by a military court and according to the government and the army, the spy was provided with a counsel and a fair trial. However, India moved to the ICJ in May claiming the opposite and challenging the death sentence.
In its initial verdict, the international court held Jadhav’s sentence until the issue went is tried and delivered a verdict in.
