Govt committed to develop far-off areas: Fawad Choudhry
JHELUM, NOV 18 (DNA) – Federal Minister of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Fawad Choudhry has called for equal distribution of resources among all federating units.
While addressing a public gathering in Jhelum on Sunday the Federal Minster said in past all resources were spent only in big cities. He said in Lahore only Rs 70,000/- have been spent per person in last ten years.
He said the government will make sure that the public money is spent on the rightful projects with a view to bringing the far-off areas at par with the developed areas
While in smaller areas no amount was spent for the welfare of the people. He said Jhelum and its surrounding areas bear huge historical importance but unfortunately no government tried to develop these areas.
He criticised the past governments for exercising criminal negligence in terms of development of these areas. He said people of Jhelum were contribute billions of rupees as taxes to the national exchequer but in return this area got nothing.
He also cited example of Baluchistan where people were forced to lead a difficult life because of want of resources. He said Baluchistan in the past did not get its due share.
The information minister said he would continue to unmask irregularities committed during the tenure of past governments.
Ch. Fawad said Imran Khan wants to empower the local governments so that they could serve the people at the grassroots level.
The minister said there are a number of politicians who nothing when they started politics but now they have become billionaires. “When we try to highlight these issues, these people say democracy is in danger”, he added.=DNA
