Gilani arrives in Tehran, receives official welcome, guard of honour
ISLAMABAD, Jul 3: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, arrived in Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, where he was accorded an official welcome by the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and presented with a Guard of Honour.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi was also present with the Chairman Senate.
Following the reception, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani held a meeting with the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament.
During the meeting, the two leaders held detailed discussions on Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, and a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
After the meeting, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament jointly addressed a press conference, reaffirming the importance of strengthening bilateral engagement and parliamentary collaboration between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Pakistan-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, senior officials of the Pakistan Embassy, and high-ranking Iranian officials were present to receive the Chairman Senate upon his arrival.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani also met with political leaders, representatives of civil society, religious scholars, and members of the media.
On the occasion, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran, enhancing parliamentary exchanges, and expanding bilateral cooperation across diverse sectors for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
