FATA members set Oct 9 as deadline for reforms

BARA BARQAMBARKHEL, SEPT 25 (DNA) – Parliamentarians belonging to Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and the parties favouring FATA reforms have on Monday set October 9 as the deadline date for finalising the roadmap for the implementation of the reforms. They also threatened of a sit-in in Islamabad in case the demand wasn’t met.
A public meeting was held today in Khyber Agency’s Tehsil Bara Barqambarkhel where the parliamentarians belonging to FATA gave government the deadline for finalising the implementation roadmap.
The members said that if the government failed to give a practical roadmap for merging FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and other reforms before the deadline, a sit-in will be held in Islamabad by the tribal people and the parties in the favour of the reforms.
Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) member from FATA Shahabuddin urged Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to not be ‘blackmailed’ by Maulana Fazl ur-Rehman and told him that he could win the hearts of the people of FATA by merging the tribal areas with KP.
The orators at the public meeting said that more delaying tactics would not be acceptable to them.=DNA
