Outgoing information secretary gets warm farewell from colleagues

ISLAMABAD, OCT 08 (DNA) – Mohammad Azam Secretary Ministry of Information Broadcasting and National Heritage was given a warn farewell by the officers and staff associated with the Secretary’s office in a simple but impressive ceremony held in the Board Room of the Ministry here in Islamabad on Thursday.
Mohammad Azam will retire on 11th October, 2015 after putting in 34 four years and 21 days in the active government service.
Mohammad Azam since his joining the service on 21st September, 1981as a young probationer discharged his official duties in almost all disciplines and Sections of the Ministry with upmost dedication and commitment and by share dint of his merit rise to the highest post of the secretary in the Federal Bureaucracy in BS 22.
The Officers and staff who spoke on the occasion paid a rich tribute to the services rendered by the Secretary in the Public interest and in improving the image of the country around the world by providing quality intervention in the Conventional and Social Media.
The Staff and officer also presented a commemoratory shield to the Secretary.
As an Additional Secretary and later as Secretary Mohammad Azam particularly focused on resolving the outstanding issues confronted by the Ministry and provided his leadership for setting-upof number of new departments which included Directorate of Electronic Media and Publication, Strategy Media Communication Cell and Pakistan Peace Collective.
He as an accomplished media practitioner and chief public relations officer of the Government played a key role in improving the Government media relations by ensuring dissemination of high quality and professionally crafted point of view of the government to the media wherever required.
He also provided his leadership to resolve the long outstanding advertisement claims of the advertisement agencies and the media houses and settle the issue once for all.
Mohmmad Azam during his tenure as Additional Secretary and later as Secretary promoted the culture of merit in appointment, posting and transfer and during his tenure all initial appointments in Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Pakistan Television Corporation and various wings and departments of the Ministry were made purely on merit which helped in infusing good governance in the Ministry and its attached departments.
Mohammad Azam during his tenure as a secretary provided his quality input in number of cases being pursued by the superior judiciary and was able to assist the Superior Judiciary to decide certain high profile cases which included adopting Urdu asa national language, notifying the Code of Conduct for Electronic Media and resolving the issue of appointment of Chairman PEMRA.
MoahmmadAzam is an accomplished and qualified officer who completed 15 credit hours post graduate course in International Relations from School of International Service, The American University, Washington DC, USA.
He holds Master of Science degree from University of Punjab. He has secured MCSE Microsoft Certified Systems Engineering and CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) from USA. He also enjoys the Congressional Fellowship (1987-88) at US Congress Capitol Hill. =DNA
