ECP merges all petitions against PML-N for next hearing
ISLAMABAD, SEPT 13 (DNA) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Wednesday merged all applications against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) regarding cancellation of its registration, keeping Nawaz Sharif away from party and political activities, and directed PML-N lawyer to submit answer by September 26.
A five-member bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (Retd) Sardar Raza Khan heard the petitions that were filed against the ruling party by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and others in which it was stated that the registration of PML-N should be cancelled after the verdict of Panama Papers case.
It has further been requested to keep ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif away all political activities in particular, and from PML-N in particular as he was disqualified by the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.
PML-N’s counsel requested the commission to grant him some time to submit the reply, and was obliged by the ECP. The case has been adjourned till September 26.=DNA
