ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Argentina Leopoldo Fransisco Sahores hosted an exhibition titled ‘Awakening of the Soul’ by artist Alejandra Bubuli and curator Roma at the Argentine Embassy the other day. A large number of art lovers attended the exhibition and evinced interest in the pieces of art.

Ambassador of Argentine while speaking on the occasion introduced the artists and lauded her work. He told the audience that Ms. Alejandra was an embassy employee as well and had created these pieces of art despite her hectic official work.

Born in Argentina in 1967 Alejandra Bubuli is a visual artist who is extremely creative and passionate about art. She did her post graduate specialization in cultural management studies and taught Textile Techniques at the Ministry of Culture of Valparaiso in Chile. Art is important to Alejandra because she speaks dreams and expresses emotions through it.

While speaking on the occasion the artist said, ‘it gives her a sense of freedom of expression that feels pure and uninhibited. A big part of her work is combining recycled materials, textures, colors and shapes. Combining these elements helps her elicit expressions and emotions in the most nurturing way’.

Materials from nature. She believes using recycled materials gives them a new life. Most of the components she experimented with were not only sustainable, but also purchased from the local markets in Pakistan.

Alejandra is drawn to the beauty of the entire creative process which keeps her connected to each element and appreciate each step. She uses herworkstoevokeemotions in heraudiences. Accordingto Alejandra theviewer’s appreciation brings meaning and beauty to the entire process.

For her works she mostly uses handmade recycled paper, inks and acrylics and incorporates layers by pouring the paint mix onto the canvas where she then manipulates the results by pooling, tilting and swiping using paint brushes and other objects she collects from nature.

Through her work she hopes to connect viewers to the beauty of the organic world and feel it’s calmness and engage with nature.
