New Italian Ambassador assumes duties in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, 01 JUL (DNA) — Ugo Ciarlatani has officially taken office as the new Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan, pledging to deepen bilateral ties across political, economic, cultural, and academic spheres. In his inaugural message, Ambassador Ciarlatani emphasized Pakistan’s importance as a strategic partner for Italy, highlighting opportunities in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agribusiness, mechanical engineering, textiles, technology, vocational training, and sustainability.
He noted that Pakistan’s youthful and dynamic population offers considerable potential for collaboration. The Ambassador underscored cultural diplomacy as a cornerstone of his mission, pointing to Italy’s rich heritage in language, art, archaeology, design, fashion, cinema, music, and science as tools for fostering dialogue and mutual understanding.
He also committed to supporting youth exchanges, academic mobility, and scientific cooperation.
Ciarlatani assured Italian citizens and Pakistani partners that consular services will be further strengthened, ensuring efficient support for both communities.
He expressed confidence that “through shared, practical, and sustained efforts, we will further strengthen the friendship between our two countries and open new avenues of collaboration for the benefit of our people.” — DNA
