UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations has reiterated the urgent need to end all ceasefire violations and push for a durable political settlement to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, warning that continued hostilities risk further regional destabilisation.
According to the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, all parties involved in the conflicts must immediately halt violations of existing ceasefires and return to diplomatic engagement under international frameworks.
He stressed that the situation in the Middle East cannot be resolved through military escalation, adding that only a comprehensive political solution can ensure long-term peace and stability in the region.
The United Nations, through its peace and security mechanisms under the United Nations, continues to call on regional and global stakeholders to exercise maximum restraint and avoid actions that could widen the conflict.
The UN chief’s remarks come amid heightened tensions in several parts of the Middle East, where intermittent clashes and ceasefire breaches have raised concerns among international observers about the risk of a broader regional escalation.
He reaffirmed that sustained diplomatic engagement remains the only viable path forward, urging all parties to prioritise civilian protection and humanitarian access in affected areas.
