Azam Khan’s name withdrawn from U19 Asia Cup squad
KARACHI, NOV 29, (DNA) -Six days after announcing the squad for upcoming U19 Asia Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has withdrawn the name of batsman Azam Khan from the squad, terming him ineligible on age grounds.
Azam, son of former captain Moin Khan and a wicket-keeper batsman, was included in the original squad of 15 players announced by the board on Wednesday.
However, On Tuesday, the PCB realised that Azam Khan was not eligible for selection on age grounds and his name was included in the squad “inadvertently”.
“It has been brought to the notice of PCB that as per the age cut-off date for the ACC Youth Asia Cup 2016, Muhammad Azam Khan is not eligible and his name was inadvertently included in the squad,” PCB said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Junior Selection Committee has therefore included Hadayatullah from the reserve players list in the final U19 squad in place of Muhammad Azam Khan and Khayyam Khan has been added in the reserve pool of players for this event,” the statement added.
The inaugural edition of U19 Asia Cup will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from December 8th to 22nd.=DNA
