NADRA officials nabbed for issuing fake CNICs
ISLAMABAD, 08 SEP (DNA) – Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two officials of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for their alleged involvement in issuance of fake Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) to foreigners.
As per direction of Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the two official namely Muhammad Kamran and Rao Muhammad Wasim were apprehended from Karachi and Islamabad.
A statement issued here on Thursday by Ministry of Interior said, the involvement of both the officials were identified during an on-going re-verification campaign of CNIC across the country.
It said Muhammad Kamran, a resident of Karachi has been working in NADRA since 2003 while Rao Muhammad Wasim, hailed from Rawalpindi has been employed in the Authority since 2004.
The statement quoting Chaudhry Nisar said those who are involved in providing nationality to foreigners illegally and putting national security at risk would not be spared and taken to task. The Minister directed NADRA to expedite process of taking action against those involved in making fake CNICs. DNA
