Malaysia is 5th largest foreign investor in Pakistan: HC
ISLAMABAD, April 16 (DNA): Malaysian High Commissioner Ikram Bin Mohammad Ibrahim meets Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati
High Commissioner of Malaysia Ikram Bin Mohammad made a courtesy call on Convener Parliamentary Friendship Group Malaysia and Chairman Defence Committee, Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati at his Chamber in Parliament House, Islamabad, on Tuesday.
During the meeting they exchanged views over trade, investment and bilateral relations. Atrocities in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and cross-border situation between Pakistan and India came under discussion as well. Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati said that Kashmir is a very sensitive issue and without resolving it no progress can be made in relations with India.
The High Commissioner of Malaysia expressed his sincere wishes for Pakistan’s progress and said that Malaysia is the 5th largest foreign investor in Pakistan. He said that on the education front currently there were 7000 students from Pakistan studying in Malaysia. He said that Malaysia would like this number enhanced, and in the near future would provide scholarships for more Pakistani students to study in Malaysia.
Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati while discussing trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan said that it was important that these figures are quadrupled. He assured the High Commissioner that his government would facilitate Malaysian businesses in Pakistan.
Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati said that Pakistan has great human resource and would like to follow the Malaysian Model to realise its potential. He stressed that sharing similar cultural and political views would facilitate the productivity and progress in Pakistan.
Ikram Bin Mohammad thanked Senator Mohammad Azam Khan Swati for his hospitality and said that he looked forward to develop stronger links between the two countries.
He showed keen interest in enhancing parliamentary exchanges between Pakistan and Malaysia and extended an invitation to the Parliamentary Friendship Group to visit Malaysia after Ramadan. DNA
