Federal Minister expresses concern over delays in housing projects
ISLAMABAD, 20 AUG (DNA) — Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, chaired the 50th Executive Board meeting of the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA). During the session, he voiced strong concern and displeasure over prolonged delays in the completion of the Green Enclave-I and Lifestyle Residency projects and development issues of Sector G 14/1.
At the outset, the minister questioned FGEHA officials about the unusual delays and demanded detailed explanations for the lack of progress. He noted that despite nearly three years passing, the projects had failed to achieve the expected milestones. Referring to media reports of protests by Green Enclave-I allottees and their appeals to the Federal Ombudsman, the minister stressed that the grievances of allottees could not be ignored.
He directed the authority to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective performance, urging immediate measures to resolve issues and complete the projects. The minister further instructed that all pending inquiry reports must be submitted within the stipulated timeframe, with prompt action taken based on their findings and recommendations.
He warned that unnecessary delays in inquiries were complicating matters, leaving both senior bureaucrats and lower-grade employees uncertain, despite having invested their hard-earned money in hopes of securing housing.
He emphasized that the inquiry process must be fair, transparent, and justified, with appropriate action taken accordingly. During the meeting, the FGEHA Executive Board also reviewed and approved the authority’s annual budget for the fiscal year 2026–27. — DNA
