Ex-Premier urges Nawaz to resign, face accountability

ISLAMABAD, 26 APR (DNA) – Former Prime Minister and senior PPP leader Raja Parvez Ashraf Tuesday called for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to stand down and present himself for accountability regarding allegations of offshore companies against his family.
“No Pakistani has leveled allegations against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif or his family,” Raja Parvez Ashraf told the media in Islamabad. Panama papers, he said, have put spotlight on offshore wealth of Prime Minister’s family.
He lamented that the federal government did not consult opposition parties about the terms of references (ToR) of Panama investigations. To a question, he said PPP did not save the PML-N government; it only differed with Imran Khan’ style of protests.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister Zahid Hamid ruled out any changes in the TORs, saying that not a single word will be added or deleted.
The minister said that opposition parties were making unnecessary noise on non-issues. Opposition parties, on the other hand, convened a meeting on May 2 in order to evolve a consensus about their strategy against the government. DNA
