Asma case: Two suspects to be presented before court after DNA match
MARDAN, FEB 07 (DNA) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police will present two suspects before the court in case pertaining to four-year-old Asma’s rape and murder in Mardan on Wednesday.
DNA specimen of both men matched with samples taken from victim’s body. The suspects were arrested on Tuesday after KP Police received the forensic report from Punjab government.
Member of JIT in Asma case told that the accused are family relatives of the minor. Falak Niaz said that they are laborers who live near Asma’s residence. He said that as many as 300 people were interrogated in Asma’s case.
The suspects are below 30 and had been transferred to an unknown location for interrogation.
Let it be known that 145 DNA samples were collected within 2-3 kilometers radius of Asma’s residence in Mardan. The final report of the case will be sent to the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan along with KP government and government of Pakistan.
The four-year-old had gone missing on January 14 in Mardan’s Gujar Garhi area, and her dead body was found from sugarcane fields near her home on January 15 after rape.
