Quetta church attack: Nine victims laid to rest, compensation announced for families
QUETTA, DEC 18 (DNA) – All nine persons who had lost their lives in a church attack on Zarghoon Road on December 17 were laid to rest on Monday while the government of Balochistan has announced ex-gratia funds for the bereaved families.
Two suicide attackers belonging to Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) had attempted to storm a church in the capital city of Balochistan province during a Sunday service that had some 400 people in presence.
Timely action of the police checked terrorists’ movement with one personnel gunning down one of the attackers keeping the hundreds of lives safe.
Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Sanaullah Zehri paid rich tribute to the police constables and a church guard who sacrificed his life in the gun battle to protect lives of the locals. One of the police constables was awarded a medal of performance for the valour showed on ground.
CM Zehri has announced Rs 1million ex-gratia for families of the killed while Rs 0.5million for the wounded.
