Pakistan summons Indian diplomat to lodge protest over ceasefire violations

ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – Pakistan has summoned the Indian diplomat to lodge protest over the death of an elderly woman in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) as a result of ceasefire violations by Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC).
The Foreign Office’s Director General for South Asia and Saarc, Dr Mohammad Faisal, summoned on Wednesday Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh to condemn the unprovoked ceasefire violations in Chirikot Sector, a statement issued by the FO said.
On Monday, Mehmooda Begum, 75, embraced martyrdom when Indian forces targeted Kakuta village in Chirikot Sector.
In 2017, Indian soldiers have carried out more than 1,300 ceasefire violations along the LoC and the Working Boundary (WB) resulting in the death of 50 innocent civilians and injuries to 165, compared to 382 ceasefire violations in 2016.
