ECP issues notice to PML-N over objections raised by PTI, PAT

ISLAMABAD, AUG 21 (DNA) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday issued a notice to the ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) over alleged violation of rules.
In their applications, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Niaz Inqalabi have argued that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been overseeing the party affairs despite being disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Babar Awan, counsel for PTI’s Yasmeen Rashid, said the PML-N cannot carry the ex-premier’s name following the Panama case verdict, adding that it is also violating the Political Parties Order as it does not mention any provision for an acting president.
It is pertinent to mention here that PML-N has appointed Yaqub Nasir as acting president of the party after the party was asked by the ECP to appoint new president after Nawaz Sharif s disqualification.
