JI announces long march for FATA rights
PESHAWAR, JUL 03 (DNA) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced to launch a long march for the fulfillment of promises made for the rights of people in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
JI Chief and Senator Siraj-ul-Haq has signaled a formal protest against the ‘black laws’ in FATA. He said the JI leaders will hold a long march from Peshawar to Islamabad, adding that the workers will chant slogans in favour of the FATA residents outside the parliament. “Promises made to merge FATA in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be fulfilled,” he demanded.
He addressed to the Al-Markaz Islami in the KP provincial capital on Monday where senior JI leaders were also present. Siraj-ul-Haq said the commitments to revoke Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR), merger in KP and giving representation in the province should be execute.
While his address, he invited leaders of other political parties to join the protest. JI chief said the party will hold rallies in FATA during August 10-20.
Siraj-ul-Haq said, “It is time the government stops making fake promises with the people of FATA and starts providing them their basic rights.”
