Congo patient dies in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI: A suspected Congo patient died at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) on Tuesday.
Mohammad Iqbal, 28, a resident of Kalar Syedan, was brought to the hospital on Monday night with a high grade fever. Earlier, he was suspected as a dengue patient but his serology report was negative, said a senior doctor of the HFH.
He said later blood samples of the patients had been sent to the National Institute of Health for the Congo serology as he had a history of animal handling. “The patient was kept in an isolated room where he died on Tuesday morning. His Congo serology report from the NIH will take two more days.”
As many as 40 suspected Congo patients were brought to the HFH during the last a few months: one from Jhelum, six from KP, 12 from Rawalpindi, six from Attock, eight from Azad Kashmir, seven from Chakwal, two from Mianwali and one from Saudi Arabia. Among them three were confirmed cases – two from Chakwal and one from Attock, he said.
