KARACHI, 01 JUNE (DNA) – Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday suspended as many as four police personnel after reviewing the report submitted by Chief Secretary in contempt of court case.

The hearing was conducted by division bench comprising of Justice Sajjad Ali Shawar and Justice Nasiruddin in Sindh High Court (SHC) during which the Chief Secretary Saddiq Memon submitted the report of the issue.

The court after hearing the arguments suspended Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South Chaudhry Asad, SP Major Saleem, SP Sadar and SP City. Moreover, the honorable judges have directed to form committee under the supervision of Subhan Memon to inspect the incident.

Earlier, the hearing was conducted by division bench comprising of Justice Sajjad Ali Shawar and Justice Nasiruddin in Sindh High Court (SHC) during which IG Sindh and all other officers submitted their affidavits in the court.

Zulfiqar Mirza’s lawyer objected that former Senioe Superintendant Police (SSP) South Tariq Dharejo has not submitted his affidavit on which the court was told that the former SSP is not in Pakistan and has gone abroad.

Advocate General Sindh told the court that he saw the incident on TV and was surprised to see police performance during it. He said that Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Qaim Ali Shah wanted to take action against the incident but could not due to court’s proceedings.

The Advocate General also stated in the court that Major Saleem was leading the masked officials in plain clothes. On the other hand, Major Saleem stated that action was not taken against Zulfiqar Mirza as armed men accompanied him, two of which belonged to FATA whereas if action was taken anywhere else then the armed men would have opened fire on them.

Advocate General Sindh argued that police carried the action outside court’s limits on which Justice Sajja Ali Shah expressed displeasure and said that the action was within the jurisdiction of court.

Besides this, the court on the identification of Mirza’s lawyer summoned the security order issued on May 23 and directed Chief secretary Sindh to meet CM Sindh today and then inform the court on Monday regarding the action of CM Sindh against police. DNA
