ISLAMABAD, MAY 13 /DNA/ – A new spiritual and parliamentary tradition was formally introduced in the Senate of Pakistan today as Naat-e-Rasool ﷺ was recited after the Holy Quran’s Tilawat for the very first time in the history of the Upper House.

The honor of presenting the first-ever Naat in the Senate was bestowed upon Dr. Qari Ikramullah Mohsin, the official Qari of the Senate of Pakistan and recipient of the Presidential Award “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.”

The recitation created a deeply reverential atmosphere in the House, with senators and attendees appreciating the initiative and describing it as a positive step toward promoting Islamic values and traditions within parliamentary proceedings.

The development comes after a resolution was approved in the Senate two days earlier, introducing the practice of reciting Naat following the Tilawat at Senate sessions. Today marked the first implementation of that resolution.

Dr. Qari Ikramullah Mohsin has previously previously performed Quran recitation at various national events, state ceremonies, and official addresses of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. In recognition of his religious and national services, the Government of Pakistan conferred upon him the civil award “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz” in 2023.
