Wheelchair services ease worship for elderly pilgrims at Prophet’s ‘P.B.U.H’ Mosque
ISLAMABAD, May 13: An integrated system of services is being provided for elderly pilgrims and persons with disabilities at Al-Masjid an-Nabawi ‘P.B.U.H’ during the Hajj 1447 AH season to help them perform prayers and visits with ease, comfort and peace of mind.
According to SPA, the services include electric and manual wheelchairs, carts and specially designed pathways to facilitate movement within the Prophet’s Mosque ‘P.B.U.H’ and its surrounding courtyards.
Authorities have also equipped entrances, elevators and dedicated routes to improve accessibility and ensure safer movement for elderly visitors and persons with disabilities during peak periods.
Field and guidance teams are providing direct assistance at multiple locations by helping pilgrims access prayer areas, facilities and various services while also regulating crowd movement to ensure safety and smooth flow.
The report said digital services have also been introduced through interactive maps accessible via QR codes placed at mosque courtyard gates, in addition to other smart guidance services aimed at simplifying navigation for visitors.
Support facilities further include specially equipped restrooms, multilingual guidance services and prepared service areas designed to meet the needs of beneficiaries throughout their stay.
These services are being implemented in coordination with transport, healthcare, crowd management and emergency authorities to provide a safe and accessible worship environment for elderly pilgrims and persons with disabilities during the Hajj season.
