Pakistan welcomes UNSC’s nomination of current UNSG to serve a second five-year term

Pakistan has welcomed the United Nations Security Council’s nomination of the current UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to serve a second five-year term. Talking to APP, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram said it is a well-deserved endorsement for the UN’s top job, and surely the General Assembly will approve it unanimously. The recommendation, made in a resolution adopted by acclamation in a private meeting, now goes to the 193-member General Assembly for formal approval.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has said world recognizes the struggle waged by Pakistan against COVID-19. Dozens of Mozambican children ‘seized by jihadists’

Dozens of children, most of them girls, have been abducted by jihadist groups over the past year, British charity Save the Children says. The charity says at least 51 children have been abducted amid violence and insecurity that has displaced hundreds of thousands of people. It notes that the number of children abductions is likely to be “far higher” – as its report only reflects the reported cases. Energy shortfall reaches 1,500MW: ministry

ISLAMABAD: Energy shortfall in Pakistan has reached 1,500MW as the power ministry on Wednesday confirmed that 22,600 megawatt of electricity is being produced in the country while there is a demand of 24,100MW.
