World needs to stand by Pakistan in war against terror: COAS

BERLIN: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday met with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and discussed matters relating to regional security and bilateral ties.
According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, the German Foreign Minister acknowledged Pakistan’s contribution in the war against terrorism and regional peace.
The army chief held an interactive session in Koerber Foundation, a renowned German think tank in Berlin, added the statement.
He told COAS that Germany understands challenges faced by Pakistan and assured full support for Pakistan’s efforts for stability and peace in the region, said the statement.
Pakistan Army’s media wing said that General Raheel Sharif explained in detail the challenges faced by Pakistan and its contribution towards peace and stability in the region.
He said that Pakistan is successfully closing up to the conclusive phase of Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
“We have sacrificed immensely, more than any other nation. The World needs to stand by us till dividends are fully realised.”
According to the statement, COAS further said that terrorism has morphed into a global phenomenon and warrants global response.
“In order to effectively win,synergy by all required,” he said.
