Tim Southee signs up for PSL draft
LAHORE: Former New Zealand cricket captain Tim Southee, who recently announced his retirement from Test cricket in 2024, has signed up for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft.
Known for his exceptional pace bowling and hard-hitting lower-order batting, Southee has been one of New Zealand’s most prominent cricketers, with a career spanning across all formats.
Southee, who has 391 Test wickets to his name, including a remarkable 5-wicket haul on his debut, is expected to bring his experience to the PSL.
A key member of New Zealand’s 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship winning team and a two-time Cricket World Cup runner-up (2015, 2019), Southee has been a standout performer in international cricket, particularly with his ability to generate late outswing and impressive death bowling.
His participation in the PSL will add a wealth of experience and leadership to the competition, as he continues his career in T20 cricket following his Test retirement.
