Special Representative of Swedish PM calls on Adviser Sartaj Aziz
ISLAMABAD, 01 JUNE (DNA) – Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs received Mr. Carl Bildt, former Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the Swedish Prime Minister, who was accompanied by Ms. Anna Karin Enestrom, Director General, Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, at the Foreign Office today.
The Swedish delegation is on a two-day official visit to Pakistan from May 31-01 June, 2016. Discussions focused on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern including UNSC reforms and cooperation at international fora. While expressing satisfaction on the excellent bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sweden, the two sides agreed on further enhancing bilateral economic ties.
The Adviser briefed the Swedish delegation about Pakistan’s counter terrorism efforts, the successes achieved during the military operation Zarb-e-Azb, as well as the comprehensive policy (National Action Plan) to root out the menace of terrorism and extremism from Pakistani soil. He also elaborated the Prime Minister’s policy of peaceful neighborhood and efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan which has direct bearing on the security of Pakistan.
The Special Representative appreciated Pakistan’s progress in the consolidation of democracy, improvement in economy and defeating terrorism. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s positive role for regional peace and stability.DNA
