Sohail Mehmood new Pakistan High Commissioner to India

ISLAMABAD, MAR 28, (DNA) – Sohail Mehmood is replacing Abdul Basit as a new High Commissioner in New Delhi as the incumbent High Commissioner of Pakistan has completed his official duration.
Pakistan’s new High Commissioner to India Sohail Mehmood will take charge of his new assignment in near future.
Sources said that notification of Sohail Mehmood’s appointment as a new High Commissioner will be issued very soon.
Sources further said that the incumbent High Commissioner, Abdul Basit will return to Pakistan after handing over his charge to Sohail Mehmood.
But Government of Pakistan hasn’t issued any notification for any new appointment for Abdul Basit in Pakistan but sources claim that Government will give him some important assignment. He is likely to be made Special Secretary.
Sources said that Abdul Basit will start farewell meetings in New Delhi in next few days.
Before posting to India Abdul Basit was additional secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served as the Foreign Office Spokesman. He was also among the strong contenders for the post of Foreign Secretary.=DNA
