Siraj seeks Pagara’s support for anti-corruption drive
KARACHI, Jan. 31 (DNA) – Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq has called on the Pir Sahib of Pagaro, and Functional Muslim League President Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashidi, in Karachi and discussed with him matters of mutual interest besides the political situation in the country.
Talking to the media after the meeting, he said that the Pir of Pagaro was a respected religious leader and his ancestors had waged a valiant struggle against colonialism which was a part of history.
He said that he had visited the Pir Sahib to seek his support in the JI countrywide drive against corruption. Besides, he said, the law and order in Karachi and Sindh was poor and the government itself was closing educational institutions which had caused depression among the masses.
Sirajul Haq said that the rulers were obtaining huge loans from the IMF which were not spent correctly. He said the JI could not keep its eyes shut to this situation. He said that JI would involve people from all walks of life in the drive against corruption.
Speaking on the occasion, the Pir of Pagaro said he welcomed the JI chief and his colleagues at his residence. He said that he had discussed with the JI delegation the current situation in Sindh. He said that the security and law and order had been entrusted to the armed forces but the government was not allowing the troops to function freely. He said that full powers were not being given to Rangers while the police was unable to protect the masses and many police officers were themselves on bail.
The Pir of Pagaro announced all out support to the JI drive against corruption and said that the country must be free from corruption and the problems of the masses must be resolved.
JI chief was accompanied by JI deputy chiefs Asadullah Bhutto and Rashid Naseem, deputy Secretary General Muhammad Asghar, JI provincial chief Dr Merajul Huda Sidiqui, deputy provincial chief Muhammad Husain Mehnati, JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rahman and others. DNA
