ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said over one hundred billion rupees have so far been disbursed among deserving families under Ehsaas Emergency Cash program in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
Responding to points raised by various lawmakers in Senate on Thursday, he said Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a stimulus package worth 1.2 trillion rupees to support small businesses and daily-wage earners, whose employments were affected due to lockdown as a result of Coronavirus outbreak.
He said resources worth 31 billion rupees were diverted to Sindh, while the government consults health experts and provinces on daily basis on ways and means to combat the Coronavirus pandemic. He said we provided protection equipment to provinces, incriminatory and without prejudice. He said we have to see how economy can be improved and resources can be generated.
The Minister urged the opposition to cooperate with the government in fighting this pandemic and to protect people’s lives instead of indulging in blame game. He also appealed common people to strictly abide by the SOP’s evolved to prevent spread of the Coronavirus.
Shibli Faraz also paid rich tribute to doctors, nurses, paramedics, members of the law enforcement agencies, and welfare organizations for their efforts as frontline soldiers in fight against the pandemic. He said their sacrifices will always be remembered in the history of Pakistan.
