Seven policemen martyred, 22 injured in Quetta blast

QUETTA, OCT 18 (DNA) – At least seven policemen were martyred and 22 others injured in a ‘suspected’ car bombing on Sibi Road within the jurisdiction of Sariab Road police station of Balochistan’s capital city Quetta early on Wednesday morning.
According to our correspondent Abdullah Magsi, rescue and security teams timely reached the blast site and started rescue operations at the scene of the bombing attack.
The attack took place in the outskirts of the provincial capital city, Magsi reported.
A steady stream of ambulances was seen shifting the injured and bodies to the nearby hospitals.
At least seven bodies and 10 injured were brought to Quetta Civil Hospital, the hospital sources said.
Security forces have cordoned off the area.
It will be too early to speak on the nature of blast, officials said. According to earlier reports, the blast was apparently caused by a planted device to the ‘Rapid Response Force’ truck, which was carrying as many as 30 personnel.
An emergency has been declared in the hospitals across the city.
Chief Minister Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri and Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti have separately condemned the blast and said that such a cowardly attack is the reflection of the evil nature of the terrorists.
