Sehwan Sharif blast: Sindh CM visits hospital to inquire about health of injured

SEHWAN SHARIF (Dunya News) – The Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, visited the Taluka Hospital in Sehwan Sharif to inquire about the health of injured people in deadly bomb blast at Lala Shahbaz Qalandar shrine on Thursday.

At least 76 people, including nine women and 20 children, were killed and over 250 others were wounded when a suicide bomber exploded him at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine.

The CM also visited various areas of the affected shrine. He pronounced that concerned individuals will be punished if any security lapse is found.

Sikandar Mandhro, Sindh’s health minister, also accompanied the CM.

A meeting was held later over the security situation in the province.

Provincial ministers Imdad Pitafi and Fiaz Butt, Sindh Inspector General (IG), Additional IG Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), commissioner and DIG Hyderabad attended the meeting.

Former President of Pakistan and President of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari has also returned to Pakistan after his visit to United States.

He has directed Sindh CM to personally supervise the rescue and medical relief operations besides the investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that terrorist attack on the shrine was a worst form of terrorism aimed at to rip apart Sufi fabric of unity and peace.

Condemning the bomb attack on the Sufi shrine, the PPP Chairman said that extremism in the country has gone through roof and such shocking terror strikes should push an intensely alert wave across the Pakistani society to step up efforts against terrorism.

The Government of Sindh has announced three-day mourning over the tragic incident.
