SC rejects objections raised by Hussain Nawaz regarding members of JIT
ISLAMABAD, MAY 29 (DNA) – The Supreme Court on Monday (today) has rejected a petition filed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz regarding the partiality of two of the members of JIT. The SC also stated that none of the members of JIT will be replaced. Moreover, the JIT has been directed to proceed with the investigation process according to law.
Hussain had earlier filed a petition with the SC questioning impartiality of two JIT members and seeking an appropriate action from the court.
Hussain has claimed that the JIT member from the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Bilal Rasool, is the nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Mian Azhar. Azhar who has served as former governor of Punjab, was originally affiliated with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz but later joined the PML-Q and eventually PTI. Hussain goes on to object that Bilal also frequently speaks against the federal government and his wife also supports PTI and PML-Q.
Regarding the JIT member from the State Bank of Pakistan, Amir Aziz, Hussain stated that he was a member of the investigation team in the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case during the regime of former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf. Hussain also alleged that Aziz has also threatened PM’s cousin, Tariq Shafi, while investigating him in the Panama case. Moreover, Aziz also allegedly directed Shafi to take back his sworn statement, as per Hussain’s petition.
