Romanian ambassador Emilian ION leaving Pakistan after completing tenure
ISLAMABAD, MAY 24 (DNA) Dean of Europe and Ambassador of Romania Emilian ION is leaving Pakistan after completing his tenure in Pakistan. The Romanian ambassador spent more than seven eventful years Pakistan during which he significantly contributed towards strengthening the bilateral relations.
Diplomatic sources told DNA that Ambassador Emilian will be leaving Pakistan in the middle of August this year to another important posting.
Ambassador of Romania Emilion ION happens to be the longest serving Romanian ambassador in Pakistan. There are a number of accomplishments in the credit of the Romanian ambassador who not only played pro-active role in promoting political relations between two countries but he put in his best efforts to cement people to people contacts also.
Ambassador Emilian during his tenure opened new consulates in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Peshawar while in Quetta a consulate may be opened even during his remaining tenure.
Ambassador Emilion, apart from being a career diplomat also proved his credentials as a great human being that is why he is rightly considered as the most popular ambassador not only among the diplomatic community but Pakistani people also.
Reactivation of Pakistan, Romania Friendship Association was yet another feather in his cap. After coming to Pakistan he soon realized that the best way of promoting people to people contacts was to create and reactivate friendship associations and business councils.
Therefore after hectic deliberations and engagement, he was able to reactive friendship association and establish various business councils in various cities of Pakistan.
During his tenure defence cooperation between the two countries touched new heights, which ultimately led to exchange of a number of high profile visits on both sides. Today defence relations between Pakistan and Romania stand excellent and strengthened credit of which of course goes to Ambassador Emilian.=DNA
