Press Center for 2018 Inter-Korean Summit Pyeongyang to Be Set Up at DDP in Seoul

Registration for 1,000-press center seats for domestic and foreign journalists will begin today. The Seoul Press Center will be set up in the world-renowned Dongdaemun Design Plaza.

A press center will be established at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul to facilitate domestic and international coverage of the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit Pyeongyang.

The 2018 Inter-Korean Summit Preparation Committee will set up the press center at DDP for the news coverage of the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit Pyeongyang, which will be held for three days September 18-20. The online platform of the press center (media.koreasummit.kr), which was also used for the April 27 Inter-Korean Summit, has been upgraded and put in place. The Korean and non-Korean journalists are required to register with the Seoul Press Center through this online platform between Friday, September 7 and Tuesday, September 11 at midnight.

The Press Center to be established in Art Hall 1 at DDP will house about 1,000 seats for journalists and other facilities, including the main briefing room where the summit in Pyeongyang will be broadcast in real time,

the main control room of the International Broadcasting Center, interview rooms and rooms for photographers and cameramen. All these will help facilitate the newsgathering activities of journalists.

Opened in March 2014 on the site of the Dongdaemun Stadium in Jung-gu, Seoul, DDP is a cultural complex known to be the world’s largest three-dimensional atypical building. It was designed by Zaha Hadid, the first female architect who was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, which is considered the Nobel Prize of architecture.

During the summit, the Seoul Press Center will be the focus of attention of journalists from home and abroad. This is expected to, directly and indirectly, promote the DDP, which is known for magnificent world-class architecture, and the Dongdaemun shopping area nearby.

All events of the summit will be forwarded to the media in real time and televised live across the globe through a smart press center that organically connects the online platform, the Press Room in Pyeongyang and the Seoul Press Center in DDP.

Through the system, news, photos and videos about the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit Pyeongyang will be accessible for reporting anytime, anywhere. International journalists will be able to receive the major coverage of the summit in nine languages—English, Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, French, German, Japanese and Vietnamese.
