Polling on 16 KP Assembly seats in tribal districts being held today

PESHAWAR (DNA) – The first-ever provincial assembly elections in the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) are being held today (Saturday).

According to the Provincial Election Commission, polling is being held on sixteen seats of tribal districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. Polling began at 08:00am and will continue till 5:00pm without any break. Two hundred and eighty-four candidates are in run.

Eighty-three candidates are contesting election from the platform of different political parties while two hundred and one are independents.

One thousand eight hundred and ninety-five polling stations have been established for this purpose. Tight security measures have been taken to ensure holding of the polling in a peaceful and transparent manner.

Besides local police, army soldiers will be deployed in polling stations to help the administration in maintaining peaceful atmosphere in the elections.
