Policeman martyred, two others injured in Quetta firing
QUETTA: A policeman was martyred and two others along with a passer-by teenager were injured in a firing incident on Faqir Mohammad Road of the provincial capital on Friday.
According police and rescue officials, three policemen were critically injured as result of the firing incident, besides a bystander teenager.
Later, one of the injured policeman succumbed to his injuries during the treatment at the Civil Hospital, rescue informed, adding that the other injured are under treatment and their condition is stable.
Following the firing incident, the police personnel cordoned off the crime scene and initiated search operation in the area.
The motive behind the attack could not be established immediately.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri condemned the attack, and offered condolences to the family of the deceased cop.
Various neighbourhoods of the provincial capital are considered to be the sensitive areas for attacks carried out on Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) personnel by the suspected militants for almost a decade.
