PM Abbasi to attend UN General Assembly session in US next month
ISLAMABAD, AUG 28 (DNA) – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will leave for the United States in September to attend the annual session of United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
He will represent Pakistan at the forum and meet important leaders from all around the world. Sources told that it has been decided to put forth the sacrifices of Pakistan in war on terror and to highlight achievements to eradicate terrorism from the country at the event.
General assembly session will take place from September 12 to 25 at UN headquarters in New York. PM Shahid Khaqan is expected to address the attendees where he will highlight the sacrifices of his country in war against terrorism.
Also, he will raise issues including Pakistan s determination for peace in Afghanistan, repetitive human rights violations by Indian forces in held Kashmir and regional security. It is expected that the government will schedule meetings with global leaders regarding US policy review for South Asia and Afghanistan.
Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif will be a part of the delegation which will also include a few cabinet members and dignified members of the federal government. It is still not confirmed whether the premier will meet US President Donald Trump after his allegations of safe havens for terrorist organisations in Pakistan.
