US envoy briefs Pak FM on Trump’s statement

ISLAMABAD, AUG 22 (DNA) – Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said on Tuesday that Pakistan offered immense sacrifices in enduring fight against terrorism, announcing that he will arrange a trip to the United States in the coming days.
The federal minister was briefed about the US policy review on South Asia and Afghanistan formulated under President Donald Trump by the US Ambassador David Hale.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Hale conveyed that the Secretary of State Rex Tillerson looked forward to meeting Khawaja Asif in the next few days to have an in-depth discussion on the state of play in the bilateral relationship as well as the new US policy on South Asia.
In reply, Asif stated presented Islamabad’s perspective and desire for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Highlighting Pakistan s immense sacrifices in the enduring fight against terrorism, the Foreign Minister underlined Pakistan s continued desire to work with the International Community to eliminate the menace of terrorism.
Meanwhile, Khawaja Asif had another meeting with Japanese ambassador to Pakistan Takashi Kurai where he highlighted the significance of Pakistan-Japan relations.
He said Japanese investors can take benefit of business-friendly environment and peace in the country, informing the ambassador of Pakistan’s sacrifices in war on terror. Kurai responded by saying that Japan will retain its ties with Pakistan for economic growth.=DNA
