Pakistan keen to expand trade ties with Belarus
ISLAMABAD, OCT 05 (DNA) – A business delegation from Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industries visited the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) for exploring trade with Belarusian counterparts.
Chairman BUCE Alexander Osmolovsky and the head of Foreign Relations Department, Alexander Bashily gave comprehensive briefings to the participants. The Chairman BUCE briefed in detail regarding evolution, organizational structure, operations, and expanding international outreach of BUCE.
Established in 2004 and the only mercantile exchange in Belarus, BUCE has flourished to enlist 21000 companies from 68 countries as its partners. Boasting of being the Eastern Europe’s largest spot exchange, it clocked in 400,000 transactions with an annual turnover of USD 2.5 billion.
The setup is fashioned as a virtual platform for commodity trade wherein the buyers and sellers across the continents are facilitated through secure business transactions. Shahzad Sabir, a renowned businessman and Chairman of Pakistan-Belarus Business Council (PBBC) is leading the delegation comprising of 64 businesspersons, one of the largest business and trade delegations of Pakistan in recent times.
The members represent diverse business interests such as Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Transportation, Textile, Chemicals, Construction, Edible oils, Agro chemical, Leather, Fertilizer, Fruits and Seeds, Timber, Furniture, Automotive, Telecom and many other areas.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Belarus Sajjad Haider Khan also attended the interaction. Expressing thanks for hosting the meeting, the Ambassador expressed the hope that more and more Pakistani firms would take advantage of the BUCE platform for expanding trade between the two countries. = DNA
