Pakistan Railways launches special train on Christmas
ISLAMABAD, DEC 22, (DNA) – Pakistan Railways on Thursday launched a special purpose train from Islamabad on the occasion of Christmas.
The train is adorned with Christmas lights and mock snowmen, and with carriages that have portraits and tributes to notable Christian Pakistanis, the government says it hopes to change mindsets in Pakistan.
It set off on Thursday afternoon from Islamabad to Peshawar, and will travel to Lahore on Christmas day before leaving for Karachi on January 1.
Minister for Railways Saad Rafique, addressing the inauguration, said that the train would carry the message of inter-faith harmony in the country.
He said minorities have been playing pivotal role in the development, and prosperity of Pakistan, and this train will highlight and highlight the strong bonds of Muslim and Christian communities.
“The white colour of our national flag denotes minority groups, and it is incomplete without them,” he said.
Minister for Minorities and Human Rights Kamran Michael was also present on the occasion and said that it is their dream for a country with no difference of caste, color, creed or religion.
He added that the Constitution of Pakistan provides equal rights and opportunities and gives legal cover minorities in the country.=DNA
