Pak, Sri Lanka continue to enjoy excellent ties: Envoy

COLOMBO, Feb 01 (DNA): The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Major Gen(R) Syed Shakeel Hussain said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka continue to enjoy excellent relations as there is a strong will on both sides to further develop and promote these relations.

Pakistani envoy said this while briefing a delegation of International Relations Department of Preston University, Islamabad Campus, which visited Pakistan High Commission in Sri Lanka on 1st February 2016, for an interactive session with the High Commissioner and Officers of the High Commission.

 The 8 – Member delegation led by. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Qureshi comprises of two Professors and Ph. D Scholars is currently visiting Sri Lanka on a Study Tour.

 Shakeel Hussain emphasized that such visits and people to people contacts are an excellent way to promote understanding and friendship between the two nations.

 He expressed the hope that the visit would add value to the already strengthened bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

 He added that more frequent people-to-people contacts through enhanced student and faculty exchanges between learning institutions of the two countries would further promote this relationship. He assured that the High Commission would continue to patronize and support such initiatives.

 An elaborate 8-day program of visit has been worked out for the delegation including visits to various Institutions of higher education as well as prominent cultural and historical sites around the island.  The Professors and scholars will also participate in a seminar arranged by the High Commission of Pakistan on 5th February 2016 to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day.
