No better way to celebrate Independence Day than to defend borders: COAS

RAWALPINDI, AUG 14 (DNA) – Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said on Monday that there is not better way to celebrate Independence Day than to defend the borders.
The military chief paid a visit to the Line of Control (LoC) in connection with Pakistan’s 70th Independence Day today and in his address to the front tranches soldiers and officials, he hailed country’s defense the best way to celebrate the national day.
General Bajwa was briefed on Indian violations of the ceasefire treaty at the border. On the occasion, he reiterated that Indian atrocities in occupied valley of Jammu and Kashmir could not suppress the freedom movement of the Kashmiris.
Earlier in the wee hours of August 14, the army chief was the chief guest at a ceremony to hoist South Asia’s largest national flag at Wagah border.
Fireworks at Minar-e-Pakistan and in multiple cities and people flocking the roads and streets marked the beginning of celebrations for Pakistan, a country of over 200 million population.
A leading ceremony of the national day was organised in capital Islamabad which was attended by the state executive Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and chiefs of all armed forces among others.
