Muslim family’s home vandalized, Quran ripped apart in US
VIRGINIA, MAR 30, (DNA) – The residence of a Muslim family was vandalized by unknown miscreants in America’s Virginia state.
The incident happened between March 24 and March 27 while the family was away.
When they returned home they found abusive graffiti on the wall and a copy of Quran ripped apart.
In a press release Tuesday, CAIR stated that “other Islamic materials such as prayer books” were also damaged and that personal property was stolen.
“What may have begun as a break-in, clearly ended as a possible hate crime,” CAIR national spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said in a statement.
“The message of hate left at the scene and the damage done to religious texts indicate the need to investigate a bias-motive for this crime.”
The house owner Shoaib says that the miscreants took away their passport, green cards and jewellery worth $ 25,000.
Police assume that the suspects entered the house for robbery but after knowing about the family being Muslim, they wrote abusive statement on the wall.=DNA
