Muharram moon not sighted, Ashura on Sept 21
ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that the Muharram-ul-Haram’s moon has not been sight and that the Ashura will be observed on September 21.
the meeting was held today at the met office’s building in Karachi with Mufti Muneebur Rehman in the chair. The meeting was also attended by weather experts. The zonal committees held their simultaneously in Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar.
According to experts, Muharram shall begin on September 12 with Ashura on September 21.
Earlier, religious scholars belonging to different schools of thought unanimously agreed to a seven-point code of conduct issued by the ministry of religious affairs and inter-faith harmony to maintain sectarian harmony during the sacred month.
The code of conduct was agreed upon at a meeting presided over by the minister for religious affairs Noorul Haq Qadari and attended by religious clerics from different schools of thought.
