MQM inmates being forced to change loyalties: Farooq Sattar
KARACHI, 13 MAR (DNA) – senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr. Farooq Sattar claimed on Sunday that Rangers are forcing the party inmates to change their loyalties.“Our prisoners in four barracks of central jail are going through agony. They are being subjected to state force. They are being forced and induced to change loyalties in return of rewards,” he claimed at a press conference here.
He said 40 of the MQM prisoners have been sent to ‘band ward’ where “they are being forced to sign something, and make agreement to steer clear of cases… Our workers are being forced for support.”
“These are conspiracies to break MQM, such allegations had never been proved,” he said, and appealed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, army chief Raheel Sharif, interior minister Chaudhry Nisar and Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the situation.
“I also appeal courts and human rights organizations to take notice of violation of jail rules,” he said. Sattar also claimed that MQM MNAs and MPAs are being threatened by unknown callers.
“Our MNAs and MPAs have been advised to move to other side of the bridge,” he said, referring to MQM dissident Mustafa Kamal’s party without naming him. “Family member of missing and jailed MQM workers are also receiving such threatening calls,” he claimed. DNA
